Review & Description
Kolymvari is an award-winning gourmet extra virgin olive oil produced from thousand-year-old trees planted in the area of Hania, Crete during the period of the Venetian occupation of Crete. This listing is for one bottle - 500 milliliters (16.9 ounces), of Agro Cert Protected Designation of Origin Kolymvari Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the Hania region of Crete. (Agro Cert means it qualifies as Kosher --although this product has not yet been blessed). --- Kolymvari Extra Virgin Olive Oil is considered one of the top three olive oils in the world. It has won two All Europe Prizes and One Worldwide International prize. The secret to a great olive oil is the age of the trees. The older the tree the less bitter the oil. Most olive oils you find in your local supermarket come from trees that are less than 50 years old. Kolymvari comes from trees that are over 1000 years old. The Kolymvari groves are located on steep hillsides and are harvested by hand with the olives carried down the hill Donkeys the same way they were 1000 years ago. --- The flavor of Kolymvari is fresh and fruity. Nothing subtle here --this oil delivers real flavor! Kolymvari is a finishing oil --not a cooking oil. Use it as a dipping oil for bread and on vegetables, in salad dressing, on Bufula Mozzarella and fresh tomatoes with Basil, or any finishing task. Even some of the best and most expensive olive oils are almost two years old by the time they hit your local store. Kolymvari is shipped fresh and usually arrives on US shores within two months of production. Since we get regular shipments this means Kolymvari olive oil is always fresh. --- This is not your supermarket olive oil. Gourmet kitchen stores sell this type of olive oil for up to $100 per liter liter. Since we have the exclusive for Amazon and deal direct with the importer we can sell it for much less. Read more
